CryptoScan — Cryptocurrency Wallet Scanner ("CryptoScan", "the Extension", "we", "our") is a browser extension designed to help users identify and analyze cryptocurrency wallet addresses for potential security risks. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Our Privacy Commitment

CryptoScan is designed with privacy as a core principle. Here's what makes us different:

  • Local Processing: All risk analysis and address scanning is performed entirely on your device.
  • No Account Required: You can use all features without creating an account or providing any personal information.
  • No Tracking: We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or any form of user monitoring.
  • No Data Collection: Your scan history, watchlist, and settings are stored locally and never transmitted to our servers.

Data We Process

Wallet Addresses

When you scan a cryptocurrency wallet address, we send only the wallet address to public blockchain explorer APIs (such as Etherscan, Blockchair, TronScan, etc.) to retrieve on-chain data like balance and transaction count. This is the only data that leaves your device.

Local Storage

The following data is stored locally on your device using browser storage APIs:

  • Scan history (addresses you've analyzed)
  • Watchlist (addresses you've saved for monitoring)
  • Extension settings and preferences
  • Cached on-chain data (for performance)

This data never leaves your device and can be exported, imported, or deleted at any time using the extension's data management features.

Third-Party Services

CryptoScan uses the following third-party services to fetch on-chain data:

  • Etherscan: For Ethereum address data
  • Blockchair: For Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Dogecoin data
  • TronScan: For TRON address data
  • Solscan: For Solana address data
  • XRPScan: For Ripple address data
  • TON API: For TON address data
  • Mintscan: For Cosmos address data

When you scan an address, only the wallet address is sent to these services. No personal information, browser data, or identifiers are transmitted. Please review the privacy policies of these third-party services for their data handling practices.

Permissions Explained

CryptoScan requests the following browser permissions:

  • Storage: To save your scan history, watchlist, and settings locally.
  • Context Menus: To enable right-click scanning of selected text.
  • Notifications: To alert you when watchlisted addresses have activity or when dangerous addresses are detected.
  • Active Tab: To scan the current page for cryptocurrency addresses when page scanning is enabled.

Data Security

Because all data is stored locally on your device:

  • Your data is protected by your browser's security measures
  • Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data
  • You can manually clear all data at any time from the extension settings
  • Data export is encrypted and can be password-protected

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

  • Access: View all stored data in the extension's history and settings panels.
  • Export: Download your complete data as a JSON file.
  • Delete: Clear all data from the extension settings.
  • Portability: Import your data into another instance of CryptoScan.

Children's Privacy
